outside lands

San Francisco's Outside Lands was a full day (and night) of music, food, booze and lots of random fun.
we tasted some wines
enjoyed their green focus - these great glasses were compostable
found new uses for plastic bottles...
ate some yummy food
posed for pictures

walked all over
ate some more yummy food
decided that Mastadon were not our thing...
did some shopping
tried on hats
posed some more for pictures
thought Gooferman were a visual circus freak treat
saw a woman with major talent - she was jumping around on stilts
Natasha Khan from Bat for Lashes, Melita's fave was amazing, it was great laying on the grass, sipping our wine, listening to her awesome haunting voice
we got fairly close to the main stage
Black Eyed Peas were much more impressive than I thought they'd be live, they really know how to Get it Started
that Fergie can really belt out a tune
but of course they left the very best till last, Dave Matthews Band played for 3 hours and were amazing even though they didn't play my favourite Crash (sigh)... The Black Eyed Peas came and crashed one of their songs which was fun too as that's not a combination you hear everyday.

Friday date night

After work on Friday Bryce, Cooper and I headed down to La Villa, an authentic style Italian deli in Willow Glen to get our fill of Italian food. Their 2 little isles are jam-packed with authentic Italian products from cheeses, wines, salamis, anchovies, olive oils to tiramisu, fresh pasta and sauces that you can heat up at home as well as the whole counter of fresh salads and cooked goodies.

They have so many yummy things that we wanted to try a little bit of everything... we had ravioli, lasagna, stuffed shell pasta, and stuffed zucchini, which we accompanied with a great bottle of cold Prosecco. I also couldn't resist the ravioli and pesto sauce which will make a lovely easy dinner tonight :D

4 Year Anniversary!

I can't believe it's already been 4 years since Cody and I got together (oficially)! Time has flown by and it just doesn't feel like it's been this long. I can't wait to see what comes next. I love you, baby!

New Music LOVE

We saw Bat for Lashes yesterday at the SF Outlands festival and I had a full blown love at first sight experience. Or rather, love at first listen since Kate and I were too lazy to get up off the blanket we were on when the concert started so at first the only thing we saw were butts and joints being surreptitiously passed around. But when I heard this beautiful, AMAZING voice I had to get up and sway to the music. I love my new music crush.

Breakfast before SF Outlands

Cody and I drove to San Francisco very early for the SF Outlands festival on Saturday. We found a parking garage and had plenty of time before the gates opened to find a good spot to have breakfast. We ended up on 9th and Lincoln at a cool place called Chow at the Park. They have organic comfort food and everything on the menu looked delicious. I ordered the Eggs Benedict w/avocado instead of ham and Cody had the bacon scramble. Cody's scramble was very good and my Eggs Benedict were just OK, but the BEST part of my meal were the fabulous home fries. We also each had a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice that was so good I'm seriously considering buying a juicer for us to use at home and giving it it's own place of honor in the new kitchen design.

Bloody Mary Popsicles!

I love bloody marys and these popsicles look so good! I can't wait to make a batch one a nice warm day. Here's the recipe:

2 1/4 cups tomato juice (18 ounces)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon bottled horseradish
3 or 4 drops Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup vodka
Equipment: 8 (1/3-cup) ice pop molds and 8 wooden sticks
Blend all ingredients with 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper in a blender until smooth, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a large measuring cup, pressing on and then discarding solids. Pour into molds. Freeze 30 minutes. Insert sticks, then freeze until firm, about 24 hours.

happy friday!

it's been a while...

I came across this photo while cleaning up my external hard drive and realised I can't remember the last time I painted... I miss it, it keeps me sane and relaxed - think I'll get my painting table all set up for painting again this weekend! :)

can't beat fish and chips

while I was in Australia this last few weeks I must admit I ate everything in site, there are so many Aussie foods that I didn't realise I had missed so much. Fish and chips are one of them, which you can get anywhere you go. This was at lunch with Trudy and Louise.
there is a huge list of food I miss about home, but I'll save that for another post...

inglourious basterds

Bryce, Cody and I went to see Inglourious Basterds last night and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not usually a fan of 'war movies' and not all that impressed with Death Proof, I was not expecting too much, but it was very entertaining indeed - you should go see it.

love these!

think it's time for a new leather jacket and found these this morning at Soia & Kyo, just can't decide which one I like best! Their website is really fun too.

yummy passionfruit

When I was visiting with my sister Louise in Queensland, Australia I was spoiled by her lovely passionfruit vine in her backyard, so I brought some seeds back with me (they must have just fallen into my pocket...) and I found this great article for growing passionfruit from seed - I can't wait!

IF I ever have a baby

I am copying every single feature in this nursery from Heather Armstrong's blog! I love the cheery, not-too-sweet color palate, the wallpaper, the crib, and every bit of artwork. So, so, so cute!

Here's a link to the most fabulous wallpaper and other treats.

Face. Melty.

Click on the picture and prepare to melt your face.

happy friday!

Giddy up it's Friday! Have a great weekend!

How about a little Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke for your face?

This is a song from one of my favorite bands, Dead Can Dance. I was introduced to this band by my friend Carlos when we were seniors in highschool. This was when I was very into the Pixies and Jane's Addiction right before I started raving full time in the early 90's. I miss the days of lighting a candle in my room and feeling so achey. Here is I Can See Now and Rakim for you to bliss out to.

Best of the Worst Album Covers!

This is eerily similar to how I spent my sixteenth birthday only I had a cigarette too.
I think they're really dressed in sour cream. Kate's favorite treat!
I could look at these all day.
