The new smoker

Cody's mom gave us a new smoker for Christmas and we broke it in last night with our first batch of ribs. I'm really up at 2:27am stressed about registering for classes at SJSU, so I figured it was a good time to share some of the pictures we took from dinner.
We made a very flavorful spice rub out of pretty much every seasoning we could find in the cubboards and agreed that next time we'll a) use less seasoning in general and b) try a simpler rub until we get it right. The ribs came from Costco and were very tasty - I was expecting them to be greasier, but they were nice and lean. After about an hour and 10 minutes (with several peeks to check on the ribs) they were perfectly cooked and delicious. I made a barbecue sauce out of onions, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, mustard powder, and pepper and also a garlic bread to mop everything up with. According to Cody we're using the smoker for every meal for the rest of our lives. Next time we're going to try a whole turkey, yum!
