mammoth news!!
we are having an awesome time in Mammoth and the skies have opened up this afternoon giving us so much snow! about a foot of snow has piled up outside our door already, and it's supposed to snow all night!
today while skiing I stopped to take some action shots of everyone as they came down the mountain, and Bryce came down and stopped in front of me saying that he'd fallen over, and could I hang onto his phone for him... so he crawled over on the snow (snowboard still attached) and knelt in front of me and reached into his pocket to get his phone... but look what he pulled out!!!
I was caught totally by surprise!!! I mean I was surprised the first time he proposed, but then a second proposal, a ring and a view like this? I'm still smiling :)

if you want to see a close up of the ring you can see it here

valentines long weekend road trip - sunday visit to Los Olivos
after our visit to the beach we jumped back in the camper and headed inland for our destination (the whole reason for our trip was to visit the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse to see if it would work for our wedding)
when we arrived in Los Olivos, California a little early for our appointment, we decided to check out the cute little town and grab a quick bite to eat. When I found the farmhouse online I imagined it would be in the middle of nowhere with no civilization to be seen, so when we arrived on this sunny summer-like sunday to this beautiful little town bustling with activity, and lots of beautiful people, I was more than pleasantly surprised :)
it's actually made from 3 different houses hauled out from the east coast, patched together and perched delightfully amoungst a gorgeous mountain range. yet it has all the modern amenities you'd expect from a get-away place

and even some you'd never expect... like ostriches
and goats...
we were given the tour and it was just so hard not to fall in love with this place!
but, as I have said, I'd really like to get married under a big old tree... or even better - two beautiful big old trees... and just a short walk from the house we found these two...
might not be the easiest walk in heels...
but, it could work... I mean look at the view!
this is the other option that most people use...
we walked around and snapped some pics and talked it over... then back to the house for another look
one of the patio areas
the main loungeroom
the breakfast nook
the kitchen
main dining room
outdoor dining area
another patio area (which turns into the dancefloor)
backdoor - complete with misters above it as there is no air conditioning in old farmhouses...
more patio space overlooking the mountains and the hot tub
this was a house on the main street
with it's cute matching garage :)
this store was full of outdoorsy decorating goods and next door we lined up for delicious paninis. the town was full of stores selling wine and gorgeous winetasting spots but we had to dash off to the farmhouse.
people travel in style around these parts (wouldn't this make a gorgeous wedding car... nah I think a porsche speedster is more my style...)
after lunch we finally made it to the farmhouse after about a 30 minute drive from downtown - the last 5 miles were like driving in a crazy rally race, which you can imagine how bumpy it was in the campervan... (no porsche speedster owner would drive out this way!)
and then, it appeared in the distance this little old looking rustic farmhouse...
which is so lovely...
main bedroom upstairs
fireplace in main bedroom
second bedroom with 2 queen beds
and one of the bathrooms
sun room that converts to a bedroom
back in the lounge room
looking up at the loft, above the kitchen
and the loft bedroom with library
looking down from the loft
Cooper and McKenzie thought it was heaven on earth
it kind of is...
we came back to the car and the goats were eating the surrounding trees, so Cooper decided to tell them what's what...
they didn't know what to think...
so we came, we saw and then it was time to go...
and the lighting was so gorgeous
the whole area so beautiful

I had to get Bryce to stop the van so I could take this shot of the yellow meadow
Cooper wondered what was going on...
but quickly lay back down to sleep
as we headed off into the sunset pondering the question... should we do it???
