I know I have raved about this totally fabulous little bit of free software before, but forgive me, I must gush again... after I took these photos of my roses last night and downloaded them I played with some of them in poladroid and well I just really LOVE this software!

it takes an average photo like this where I was beginning to lose light
and turns it into this (complete with random fingerprints - which is a setting you can choose)

and this, which is pretty enough

but makes it so much more romantic looking

how addicted to blogging are you?

I recently read a facebook post on being addicted to social networking and instantly thought to myself "meh, I am so not addicted to that stuff..." then it got me thinking about how I spend my time online... and although my job means I am online all day, I come home and the first thing I do is plug in my laptop and get back online. it's not that I come home to work, but I come home to check in on the online world I missed in my 15 min commute from work, write a blog post I thought about on the way home, or catch up on all the posts from my fellow bloggers and see if anyone has commented on my posts etc

my name is kate and I am a blogaholic...

I just really love jotting my thoughts and photos into a post, hearing what is going on in other people's lives, learning things from the blogosphere and getting to know people with similar interests that I may never have come across without the concept of the blog...

do any of you have this problem??? do we need a support group?

OK, here's a nerd alert for you - I love scrabble! but hearing news this morning that they plan to 'change the rules to allow proper nouns' is just ludicrous! what is the point??

'for the first time in nearly 62 years, popular word game Scrabble will change its rules to allow celebrity names and companies.

The decision, by games giant Mattel, will allow the celebrity, geographic and sports worlds to invade the most popular word game, as players would be permitted to use names like London, brand labels including Pepsi, and star monickers such as Jordan, Beyonce and Shakira.

Mattel has promised the new rules will be a “great new twist” to encourage younger players to take part. It is also considering allowing words to be spelled backwards and upwards on the board -- and the placing of letters unconnected to other words.'

my boss is awesome!

he is always buying the latest gadgets, as soon as they come out - he's what they call an 'early adopter'... anyway here's what he showed up with today at first I thought it was the latest and greatest bluetooth headset, as you can imagine how many of these he has... but no it's a fitbit - a device you wear, that tracks how much you sleep, how many calories you burn and how far you've walked. it then loads the info to your computer (when you get close to it) and you can keep track of your numbers. what a wonderful invention, and great christmas gift! buy here
