Letterboxes

I just heard about letterboxes today and thought it was the coolest thing! Letterboxing is the hobby that combines art, puzzle solving, and orienteering. Basically letterboxes are small, weatheproof boxes that are hidden somplace public like a park or mueseum and clues to their location are published in a catalog or on a website. The letterbox has a notebook and a stamp inside and the person who finds it uses their own stamp to leave an impression in the notebook and takes an impression from the found stamp. Here's an example of the stamps and pages from Simon Litton's letterbox journal
There are quite a few places in the Bay Area to hunt for letterboxes - maybe I need a new hobby and should start collecting stamps.

so scary, because it's true...

I thought the 80's coming back was scary enough... but the 90's now haunt me more than ever...
although I must admit, I did look good in the 90's...

thoughts?

Cake fight

My friend Ross's girlfriend Kasey is just the most adorable person! She and Ross have been dating for quite sometime and every time I get to meet her I love her just a little bit more. She's one of those people I admire because they're cool and creative and best of all they're really, really nice. She had these photos posted to her Facebook page and I have been wanting to recreate them with Kate - some sort of good old-fashioned girls fighting with cake party, but we haven't gotten around to it yet so I'm postings these originals from Kasey in the meantime. She and her friend picked up cakes from the grocery store, put on party dresses and party hats and went to town while another friend captured the awesomenss on camera. Does this not look like the funnest thing to do EVER?

rrrracing and red meat

last thursday we went go-kart racing for Bryce's birthday (yes the celebrations lasted all week) and aside from looking like grimace I had a blast!cody getting ready to rob a seven eleven...hannah doing it ninja style
helmets on
seatbelts on
and we're ready for racing!
Rosy getting ready to race again
Melita looked like a Charlie's angel in that black suit
hannah looked like a super hero
here we are with our lap times (I came last...)
and the winners are...
Rosy, Cody and Bryce
then we went to Town for some delicious dinner! if you're ever in San Carlos and need a good spot for dinner, this place was awesome!

the kobe sloppy joe sliders
the crab crusted filet
flier's teriyaki skirt steak
baseball cut steak
and then it was time for warm bread pudding and birthday songs for the two birthday boys (Cody)
and Bryce

demo is fun

the conversation went a bit like this:

Melita: we're going to Hollywood Farmer's Market next weekend, wanna come?
me: cool, where's that?
Melita: in Hollywood, LA
me: we really need to get stuck into the house, we keep going away and come back, look at the house and feel guilty about not getting anywhere...
Melita: that's how I feel everyday even with a hammer in my hand
me: you're crazy, you need to look at your before and during pics, you'll be amazed at your progress...

so here are some photos I took when we went to Melita's house in February, to remind her, how much they've actually done (oh and how silly we got at the end of that day)

we walked into this
girls with power toolsboys with hammers
then crazy people and the continuous shooting mode on my camera...

Fisher Price Classic Toys

look what we found in Target the other day. Remember these classic Fisher Price toys? We definitely had a few of these in our house, I think most of them were hand me downs, like this Two Tune TV.
and how many times did you step on this chatter phone and somehow never break your neck?
oh, and who can forget the classic slinky - hours of skin pinching fun
but something tells me these toys are not really for the kids of today, who expect much more from their toys, but more of a blast from the past for us adults...
so here, buy the keychain version.
