38 weeks...

well it's slowly starting to sink in and I am happy to report that I think I can feel a niggling nesting instinct coming on...

I took some photos yesterday. I woke up at 4am thinking this baby could seriously come at any time now. I had been pinning maternity photo inspiration here and intended to hire someone to take some real photos, out in a field or something equally as charming. but, time is running out. and fast. so I snapped some of my own. it was fun. I'll make Bryce take some with me this weekend too - stay tuned :)

we have another renovation filled weekend ahead of us. last weekend we got drywall in the bedrooms, but the electricians are STILL working on the lighting... they blew up our microwave the other day, and none of the lights in the kitchen currently work (nope, we're not renovating the kitchen, yet) and they can't figure out why?

we got our internal doors, and are just about ready for paint. Yay! and wallpaper double yay! I'm hoping by this time next week, we'll be putting together baby furniture :)

this weekend they have predicted snow in California. they got 4 feet in Tahoe last night and they say it might snow in San Francisco - but I'll believe it when I see it :)

none the less it is still pretty cold here and I am looking forward to the weekend in. I am feeling the creative vibe so am going to try making this soup

it's a brisk one here this morning, the grass was all crunchy when we took Coop and Kenzie for their morning frolic in the park, but Coop (being a Canadian) doesn't mind a little ice on his belly to cool him down after chasing the frisbee :)

this weekend we are gearing up for renovations, and we're very excited.

this week has been a tough one for me. I threw my back out lifting a half empty basket of washing while getting ready for work the other day (which had me doubled over in so much pain that I couldn't even breathe), and work seems to be totally sucking for me, and I just generally feel out of sorts. not feeling social, not wanting to do much of anything to be honest. you know, we all get like this sometimes... right?

when I feel like this I like to paint. so I picked up a paintbrush and unpacked a bunch of blank canvasses and funnily enough it's making everything feel much better.

I am so glad it's friday! I can paint some more. we are doing some demo on the house this weekend - which is exciting! maybe we'll catch a movie or something too.

this week has flown by for me! we went to the baseball on Tuesday, out for dinner Wednesday, dinner at our place last night and I can't believe it's Friday already! but so glad it is...

we are heading to great america today (for work), for an afternoon full of roller coaster fun, so I thought this picture was perfect! don't you just LOVE roller coasters???

although I haven't done all the things on my list I'm happy to report that my mini vacation at home is going swimmingly :) I've been organising and creating and best of all relaxing!

this weekend I plan on doing much of the same! and we are heading off to the city for the Renegrade Craft Fair and the Alameda Flea market - very exciting!

well my friday was cut short today when the fire alarm in my office started going off and everyone had to evacuate the building at about 3:00pm... I took that as a cue to pack up my laptop and call it a day! as I was driving home I heard we'd just had an earthquake, so I guess that's what set the alarm off - not that I felt it (it was only a 3.5).

the sun is shining here and I have 2 sleepy puppies at my feet. we are looking forward to hanging out at home and making some more progress on the house and garden this weekend.

although it was a short week I am so glad it's Friday! and this picture sums up my feeling perfectly - don't you wish you could make time stand still sometimes?

we are getting busy on the garage, planting some tomatoes finally (thanks Melina and Christina), getting roof racks installed on the campervan (so that the canoe stays on) and going to watch Max in the poodle parade this weekend.

although today is friday (my favourite day of the week) for me it is like a Monday, as I am off to Vegas for the show I have been working on for the last few months. I am a bit of a nervous wreck wondering if I have forgotten something huge, but I guess there's only one way to find out...

lots of rest and relaxation is called for this weekend in our house. bryce has strep throat and has spend the best part of this week in bed, the poor darling :( and I have spent the best part of this week working my butt off on this event I've been working on...

happy friday - now...

you guys remember Max right? he's a 7 month old, 5 pound tea cup poodle, but what you don't know about Max is that he is an escape artist! he loves adventure, and running round the neighbourhood all by himself... apparently...

we have been puppy sitting him this week, while Hannah is in Toronto and Coop and McKenzie love having him here. he learnt to use the doggy door, in about 5 mins (he's very smart) and so he can now come and go as he pleases. but today bryce came home to find McKenzie, Cooper and a hole in our fence...

our fence is old and dilapidated and is on our long list of renovations, but today it just got added to the must fix list! apparently when you push at this particular spot in the fence the nails pop right on out and Max being the smart doggy that he is figured this out and decided to go on a little escapade!

he tried this earlier this morning when I was leaving for work too, and shot out the front door just as I was closing it, and took off up the street... mckenzie thought it was the greatest fun chasing me, chasing Max all the way up the block!

so, you can imagine Bryce's alarm when he came home to find that Max was missing - I mean how do you tell a friend that you've lost their puppy??? I rushed home from work and we started door knocking on all our neighbours' doors, and after about 20 houses, just 1 block from our house we knocked on the right door! these guys found Max, called the number on his tags (which is why it so important for your dog to wear a tag with a phone number) and when they couldn't get Hannah, they called the pound. someone had picked him up from them about 20 mins earlier - so we jumped in the car and hightailed it to the local pound. just as we got there a van was pulling into the driveway with Max inside. Officer Tucker who picked up Max was so wonderful and let us take him home (I had visions of him in lockdown over the weekend...) he was really glad to see us, and totally exhausted from his adventure (he's sleeping next to me on the couch as I type)

I just have visions of him scoping out the neighbourhood, sniffing this, peeing on that and running around shouting freeeedom! :P

I snapped this shot last Friday on my drive home from work, and when I saw it this morning I had to share it. Hannah bought me these gorgeous flowers for my birthday (along with the most awesome electric juicer, which is invaluable with all the oranges and lemons we have at our place...) anyway I was driving them home with the top down in my car (yes Dad, I was stopped at a traffic light...) and the lighting was well - you can see :)

this was a short week for me with the long weekend and all, but I feel like I packed a 5 day work week into 4 days, so I'm totally ready to dive into this weekend! we're off to sit on a patio and drink cocktails and eat tapas - YUM!

this weekend Bryce is taking me to Wicked in the city for my birthday and we're going to the Sunset celebration weekend on Sunday, which should be lots of fun.

this is a particularly wonderful friday for me because bryce and I took the day off to make an extra loong memorial day weekend! and although the week has been kinda rainy and on the cooler side this morning when I woke up the sky looks like this picture - gorgeous!

we are packing up the campervan and the canoe and the puppies and heading to Bass Lake for the long weekend!

is it me or do the weeks just get faster and faster??? I'm so happy it's friday and the weekend is ahead of me.

Bryce is going to be working most of this weekend and with the weather here resembling winter I have just lit the fire and am looking forward to spending time pottering around the house, tidying, sorting out my many many photos, maybe some painting and catching up on my blogging.

as the sun fought it's way through the bay area's fog this morning, my bed would not let me leave for my disgustingly early morning meeting, especially when my two fur babies decided that they also wanted to sleep in and snuggle up to me for warmth... I lay there trying to will myself into the shower - then as the fog (from my head) started to clear, I realised that it is Friday - the very best day of the week!

and now that it's the end of a long day, it's margarita'o'clock! woohoo! time to break out of my cube, shake off the fluoro lighting, put the top down on my little convertible and head to the bar for a margarita with Melita.

we have a very full weekend ahead of us, starting with BBQ night at Henry's Hi-Life for dinner tonight, some work around the house tomorrow, followed by BBQ at Codita's (see a pattern forming here?) then Sunday we're competing in the bay to breakers race! I am exhausted just thinking about it all!
