monday monday
this weekend was jam packed full of fun things for us, like watching dispicable me, frost nixon & slingblade. a poodle parade that was actually a poodle 'and pooch' parade. we started stripping the paint off our 50 something year old garage and finally got around to planting some vegies! in fact I wish I was still gardening right now...Thursday, June 3, 2010
what's in your netflix queue?
bryce and I are cutting off our cable television. we've been saying it for a while now - it's such a waste of money for us since we don't watch that much tv. at about $100 a month you'd expect some good television, but whenever we sit down to watch something there is never anything on all those 800 channels... so, with a combination of hulu, abc.com and netflix we can watch everything we want at the time we want. we can pause it. rewind it. watch again. if we want to. I also downloaded boxee the other night, but haven't played around with it too much. so to me it seems like a no-brainer...
I was tidying up my netflix list this morning and wondering if anyone has any recommendations for must watch movies I should add to my queue?

milk
we just finished watching Milk tonight, and I would highly recommend watching it, Sean Penn did a great job as usual. It really hit a chord for me because we now live in this same city where this all went down, and after being in California while Prop 8 was actually brought to a vote, and then actually winning (a year ago this month) - it is just so unbelievable to me that still today people actually think that gay people wanting to marry has any impact whatsoever on their relationships, that it weakens the sanctity of marriage and all the other crappy excuses that were broadcast all over the radio over and over during those months to excuse taking away basic human rights... it's really just boggles my mind...

underwater
oh and another thing about Whip It... the underwater scene is amazing - I won't give it away, but it reminded me of some photos I've seen on Flickr and went in search for more...
I would love to take photos like this one day... the colours, the shapes the light makes, the bubbles - just beautiful and so peaceful

Whip it!
Whip It was so much fun the other night - you can tell the crew had a ball making the movie and the bruises they sported were most likely real!
Roller derby looks like a crazy person's sport, but it did spark the conversation about what would our Roller Derby Names be? With my last name being Blood, I thought I should be able to come up with something that is equally catchy and full of spunk with a side of attitude - but alas I lack creativity... but that's ok because look what I found! The Roller Derby Name Generator and apparently my name should be "BackAlley Blowtorch" (who knew???) but the Whip it site has a better version and I prefer "Wrath Baby" So from now I wish you to call me Wrath Baby whilst I am on skates! (which is never btw) :P

inglourious basterds
Bryce, Cody and I went to see Inglourious Basterds last night and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not usually a fan of 'war movies' and not all that impressed with Death Proof, I was not expecting too much, but it was very entertaining indeed - you should go see it.

Fondue on a Tuesday
On Tuesday we went and saw a pre-screening of 500 Days of Summer, which was uber cute and not what I was expecting at all... The cinematography and costumes were beautifully dreamy and Zooey Deschanel is just gorgeously hip.

I definitely recommend you go out and see this movie and buy the soundtrack - I did :)
Afterwards we stopped at Left Bank for some delicious Fondue and french wine... yum!

UP
We went to see UP over the weekend in 3D which was awesome - definitely make sure you see it!We even got to wear these sexy glasses, which I must say looked great on Melita and reminded me why I got rid of my wayfarers in the early 90's and won't be getting another pair - even though they are oh so hip these days...
I was really happy to take them off after the major headache I got from watching a 3D movie from the 15th row, but I was even happier to see that they recycled them!

angels and demons at midnight
bryce, hannah and I went to see Angels and Demons last night at the midnight screening. I am not one of those people who spoils movies for people, so if you want to know how it was you'll have to go and see it yourself, but I will say that it is worth seeing just for the visual tour of Rome.
