happy friday!

well the weekend is here at last - woohoo! this has been a crazy week for me, work is crazy busy building up to the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas first week of January, christmas is coming at us with warp speed but I am oh so happy it's Friday and the sun is shining!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with happiness and sunshine!

I'm dreaming of a white christmas...

no, not really... snow is too cold and that's the reason we left Toronto, but here's some fluffy white stuff I can deal with...

awww

look who I found lying on our bed the other day... he knows he's not supposed to be on the bed and looked at me like 'oops'
but he was so exhausted after a morning of frisbee at the park, he just lay straight back down and went back to sleep - and so I had to take some photos of him

fondue party

we had an awesome tree decorating/ fondue party on Saturday night - I mean how can you beat, cheese, chocolate, wine, and good friends all in one place...
we had sliced beef and prawns with a beef broth in one fondue dish and then a swiss & gorgonzola cheese sauce in the other. Bryce and I realised later that we should have put sauces like tartare, bbq, teryaki etc in the little white dishes around the fondue container to dip the meats in... so next time it will be even better :)
I was not happy about the prawns and meat swimming in the same dish (hate icky prawns), but I just pretended it wasn't happening...
after filling up on bread, meat and vegies dipped in cheese it was time to decorate
Hannah helped with the lights
as did Cody
Bryce hung them perfectly on our perfect tree
Melita and Cody brought some cool ornaments for us
Hannah didn't believe it was a real tree and had to do the sniff test
time to get the chocolate melting, we mixed toblerones, cream, milk and some other Belgian chocolate together (loosely based on Nigella's recipe here)
these are the pretty angel ornaments Hannah gave us
silliness
hanging the ornaments
Hannah and McKenzie (caught with her tongue sticking out)
I like how the lights shine in this shot
adding some final touches
and then the pièce de résistance
my dad gave me this little angel last christmas when he was here, she is the angel from our family christmas tree and we have had her for as long as I can remember Christmas. it was tradition that Dad would always put her on the tree last
time for chocolate now
we dipped strawberries, marshmallows and mini lemon poppyseed muffins
it was all too much for Cooper and McKenzie
they snuggled with Hannah
and we finished up watching Charlie Brown Christmas (well some of us fell asleep on the couch)
our wonderfully perfect christmas tree

happy friday

it's cold and wet here today and doesn't look like we'll be seeing much sun this weekend... but I love it when I get to stay inside all day without feeling guilty for missing a gorgeous sunny day!

Hope you stay warm and dry and have a wonderful weekend!

this photo was one I took in Toronto at the town hall skating rink one year

She's helping him tie his shoe

Here's a picture I borrowed from my friend Gloria's FB page. Her husband Jason Klauss snapped this while at a food convention.

friends, festivities and fondue

this year Bryce & I are starting a new tradition - being our first Christmas in our first home we are having a tree decorating/ fondue party and inviting our friends to come and help us decorate our gorgeous tree! of course I'll take lots of photos and share them next week :)

the one

here's is our so perfect it looks fake christmas tree we picked up on the weekend at the local scout troop (when killing trees it makes you feel better if at least the money goes to a charity...) and our traditional family photo at the tree place :D it fits perfectly next to the fireplace! it's definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Mischievous McKenzie...

the other day McKenzie decided that my crochet bag looked like a fun game... I came home to this...
miraculously she didn't unravel my blanket that I am making for the campervan, but she messed up each ball of wool and made quite the tangled mess - don't you just love puppies!!!

Tiny bird vase and more

In my Christmas gift buying panic, I have been desperately scouring the internet for great gifts for people. Strangely, all I ever seem to find are great gifts for me! I love the tiny bird vase!

poor little McKenzie

she's all better now, but couldn't resist snapping this pic of her finally trying to sleep with the cone on last week...

my boss is awesome!

he is always buying the latest gadgets, as soon as they come out - he's what they call an 'early adopter'... anyway here's what he showed up with today at first I thought it was the latest and greatest bluetooth headset, as you can imagine how many of these he has... but no it's a fitbit - a device you wear, that tracks how much you sleep, how many calories you burn and how far you've walked. it then loads the info to your computer (when you get close to it) and you can keep track of your numbers. what a wonderful invention, and great christmas gift! buy here
