with all this rain we've been having our front lawn is getting nice and green, and needs mowing... we've kind of been neglecting it as we still haven't come up with a final plan for the front yard - but we do know that the grass has got to go... we're thinking about making it into a meadow but there is just something so lovely about a gorgeous green grassy lawn...

ReplyDeleteI imagine that it would require significantly less maintenance than a traditional lawn. If you can make it work with your existing garden, I bet it would look great.
Dad's lawn is a good example of why you don't want a lawn. Lawns today are ham-fisted attempts at fitting anachronistic behaviour into inappropriate environments. Or, a perpetuation of that. There's also a criticism section on the Wikipedia lawn article so they must be bad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawn#Criticisms
